While the General Assembly covers all objectives of UN concern, the S.E.R. Foundationīs interest was drawn to the newly opened interreligious and intercultural dialogue of the General Assembly.
The interreligious aspect has been the original impetus for founding the S.E.R. Foundation. At the same time the importance of values and respect for cultural diversity has been part of several proposals for UN DPI annual conferencesī themes as well as midday workshops (see DPI : S.E.R. Workshops) and been subject of the comment on S.G. report `International Migration and Developmentī.
It is for that reason, that the Foundation takes particular notice of the speeches of UN officials on that subject and representatives attended the Informal Thematic Debate of the General Assembly Civilizations and the Challenge for Peace: Obstacles and Opportunities on 10 and 11 May 2007.
For the upcoming High Level Dialogue on Interreligious and Intercultural Understanding and Cooperation for Peace on 4 and 5 October 2007, the Foundation has submitted a proposal for best practices and will again send representatives to attend the Dialogue.
