The school preserves the old Christian tradition of Tur Abdin and seeks peaceful cohabition with Muslims. The Christian minority keeps its religion and tradition in Tur Abdin and wants a peaceful every-day-life in togetherness with the Muslim people. Children are taught their religion and the Aramian language in Monastery Mar Gabriel.
The S.E.R. Foundation GER has been supporting the school of Monastery Mar Gabriel by paying the salary for a teacher for Religious Education since 1996.
